Underage Presentation of Awards 2009

St Peter’s state-of-the-art new Community Sports Hall was the setting for the Club’s annual underage presentations that took place on Thursday, 29th October.  Extra special guests on the night were Armagh Minor Manager, Paul McShane who was accompanied by three of the Armagh Minor Panel – Andrew Murnan, Darren Kelly and Niall McConville.  In leading the presentations, the Club’s Youth Development Officer, Alfie Hannaway paid tribute to the ongoing commitment and effort by the Club’s volunteers, coaches and leaders to accommodate the growing number of young people participating in Gaelic Football at St Peter’s Club.  This sentiment was echoed by Paul McShane who couldn’t help to be impressed by the silverware & awards on display as well as the new facilities.  Paul also made a very special presentation to one of the Club’s veteran’s - Maurice O’Reilly - who is the proud holder of an All Ireland Winners Medal for Armagh Minors from 1949. The following underage awards were presented on the night:

Under-10 Most Improved Players – Grainne Scullion & Peter McDermott;
Under 10 Players of the Year – Hannah Abraham & Tiernan O’Neill;
Under 12 Most Improved Players – Niamh McDonald & Anthony McIlroy;
Under 12 Players of the Year – Eadaoin Moore, Niamh McSherry & Ruairi McDonald;
Under 14 Most Improved Players – Chloe Magill, Lee Cush & Gary Quinn;
Under 14 Players of the Year – Fionnuala Furphy, Catherine Conway & Thomas Turley;
Under 16 Most Improved Players – Jamie Lee Lavery & James McVeigh;
Under 16 Players of the Year – Ciara Lennon & Aaron Findon;
Minor Most Improved Player – Jane Fitzsimmons;
Minor Players of the Year – Emer McCormick & Tony Flynn; and
Overall Players of the Year for 2009 – Ciara Lennon & Aaron Findon.
 

The final award of the evening was to a number of Minors at the Club who are progressing from Minor to Senior football: Nicola Lavery, Katrina Magee, Jake Casey, Tony Flynn, Stephen Fox, Darren Kelly, Shane McCaughley, Liam Mackle and Sam Marshall.

In bringing the evening to a close, those present were advised that the new hall is now available for bookings and with a 10,000 sq ft sports hall complete with changing & shower facilities; viewing gallery; social area; and a number of meeting rooms all with free onsite parking, the new facilities are ideal for indoor football, training, dance, children’s parties, workshops and many other activities.  If interested call – 0790 545 6632 – for more information.
